EL DISEÑO COMO HERRAMIENTA DE INCLUSIÓN

Como firmes defensores de los valores de la inclusión social y receptores del galardón en una edición anterior, desde As Salgueiras seguimos todos los años con interés el desarrollo de los premios internacionales de  la fundación Design for all. Este año hay 36 propuestas sometidas al criterio del jurado internacional que debe otorgar los galardones. Evidentemente, no disponemos de espacio para reseñarlas todas, pero si que nos gustaría señalar algunas tendencias. Desde Argentina, el diseño del escritorio Robbina se adapta a las necesidades de todo tipo de alumnos, con o sin discapacidad, que pueden modificar de manera rápida y sencilla ángulos y alturas para trabajar con comodidad. Como fabricantes de juegos adaptados a niños con discapacidad, no nos cansamos de recordar la necesidad de luchar para que la diversidad funcional no sea una barrera y que los niños puedan jugar entre sí venciendo cualquier diferencia física, cognitiva.

Del mismo modo, y como entendemos que el contacto con la naturaleza es fundamental para el desarrollo humano, destacamos la presencia del Manual de Accesibilidad a los Espacios Naturales que ha editado la Junta de Andalucía. Porque si ya tenemos asumido que la naturaleza es un tesoro, ahora debemos garantizar que de verdad lo sea para todos.En otros casos, el diseño es tan sencillo y cercano como la jardinera Zebra, pensada para evitar y minimizar el daño en caso de impacto con ciclistas y para servir no solo de sostén de plantas sino como elemento de guía visual en el trazado urbano. Y a veces, cuando lo más sencillo resulta complejo, hay que recurrir a las nuevas tecnologías, como propone una iniciativa de Senegal que quiere facilitar la realización de trámites administrativos via sms telefónicos, para que los habitantes de las zonas rurales e interiores del país puedan inscribir a sus hijos, notificar las defunciones, inscribirse para votar...

Como siempre, Design for all se convierte en un escaparate de creatividad e imaginación. En un ejemplo de cómo se puede emplear una herramienta conceptual como el diseño para conseguir soluciones reales que ayuden a mejorar la vida de las personas que, por diferentes motivos, sienten que el mundo no siempre está hecho a su medida. 

DESIGN AS AN INCLUSION TOOL

As strong advocates of the values ​​of social inclusion, and recipients of the award in an earlier edition, from As Salgueiras we follow every year with interest the development of the international awards of the Foundation Design for all. This year there are 36 proposals submitted to the criterion of the international jury. Obviously, we do not have space to review them all, but we would like to point out some trends. From Argentina, the design of the Robbina desktop is adapted to the needs of all types of students, with or without disabilities, that can quickly and easily modify angles and heights to work in comfort. As makers of games adapted to children with disabilities, we always foster the need to fight so that functional diversity is not a barrier and that children can play with each other overcoming any physical or cognitive differences. In the same way, and because we understand that contact with nature is fundamental for human development, we highlight the presence of the Manual of Accessibility to Natural Spaces edited by the Regional Government of Andalusia. Because if we already have assumed that nature is a treasure, we must ensure that it truly is for everyone. 

In other cases, the design is as simple and close as the Zebra planter, designed to avoid and minimize damage in case of impact with cyclists and to serve not only to grow plants but also as an element of visual guidance in the urban layout. And sometimes, when the simplest things result very complicated, it is necessary to resort to new technologies, as proposed by an initiative of Senegal that wants to facilitate the carrying out of administrative procedures via telephone sms, so that the inhabitants of the rural and interior areas of the country can enroll their children, communicate deaths, sign up to vote, etc.
 As always, Design for all becomes a showcase of creativity and imagination. In an example of how you can use a conceptual tool such as design to get real solutions that help improve the lives of people who, for different reasons, feel that the world is not always tailor made for them.
