CONTRA LA CONTAMINACIÓN, BIOFILIA

Estos días hemos leído de nuevo algunas cifras que muestran con crudeza el coste en vidas humanas de la contaminacion ambiental. Un estudio de la Escuela Nacional de Sanidad estima que la contaminación por partículas ha matado a mas de 26.000 personas en la primera década del siglo XXI en España. Otras cifras hablan de 30.000 muertes prematuras al año, la "contribución" española a los cerca de 6,5 millones de personas que fallecen en el mundo anualmente de manera prematura por causa de la contaminación. La polución ambiental ya causa más muertes que los accidentes de tráfico, aunque estos parecen seguir generando mayor alarma social.

Desde As Salgueiras defendemos la biofilia, la necesidad del contacto con la Naturaleza como algo fundamental para el bienestar del individuo. Todas nuestras actividades surgen, en el fondo, de convencimiento de que debemos poner a las personas en contacto con la naturaleza para que como ciudadanos, reclamen entornos verdes y saludables a los responsables del diseño de sus ciudades. Por eso nos alegramos de que expertos y ciudadanos hayan apostado en Madrid por un proyecto verde para reformar la plaza de España. El título del proyecto ya es una declaración de principios "bienvenida madre Naturaleza, adios Mr.Ford", como enunciado de la necesidad de recuperar la ciudad como entorno verde y restar protagonismo a los automóviles tantas veces omnipresentes.

TO FIGHT AGAINST POLLUTION: BIOPHILIA

In the past few days we have once again been presented with figures that show the cost that environmental pollution has on human lives . A study by the National School of Health estimates that particle pollution has killed more than 26,000 people in the first decade of the 21st century in Spain. Other figures speak of 30,000 premature deaths a year, the Spanish "contribution" to the nearly 6.5 million people who die worldwide prematurely because of pollution every year. Environmental pollution already causes more deaths than traffic accidents, although these seem to generate greater social alarm.

In As Salgueiras we foster biofilia, the need to have contact with nature as something fundamental for the well-being of the individual. All our activities are based on the conviction that we should put people in touch with nature so that as citizens, they demand green and healthy environments from those responsible for the design of their cities. That is why we are pleased that experts and citizens in Madrid have bet on a green project to reform the Plaza de España. The title of the project is already a statement of principles "welcome Mother Nature, goodbye Mr. Ford", as a declaration of the need to recover the green environment of the city and reduce the prominence of the ever omnipresent automobiles.
